Byers Choice DollsByers Choice carolers were born in the late 1960s when Joyce Byers began creating her own Christmas ornaments after failing to find decorations that appealed to her in the stores. The results of her creativity, fashioned with bits of fabric and other materials she had around the house, were joyful handcrafted caroling figurines that reminded Joyce of Christmas memories and age-old holiday traditions. It was clear they appealed to others in the same way – first relatives, then friends, and soon retailers and other shoppers were encouraging Joyce to make more carolers.
Today the collection includes far more than Christmas Byers Choice carolers. Characters like Spring Woman have joined the cast, along with Thanksgiving carolers, caroling dogs in many breeds, singing cats, caroler accessories such as lamp posts and hearths, Christmas decorations, and a whole line of Kindles – charming characters for every season and almost any theme. A collector can build an impressive and valuable collection of Carolers, Bakerkins (Kindle chefs), Christmas tree ornaments, or even gingerbread houses. The company places a high value on providing a good product for a reasonable price, while supporting a great work environment for employees. As an added touch, the company donates more than 20% of profits to charity each year. It just makes you feel good about purchasing Byers Choice carolers and other collectibles as you shop for decorative accents for your home, or gifts for family and friends. Very few products that we can buy give back in the same way. Most Byers Choice carolers sell for about $54, making them affordable decorative pieces for the home. Larger and more intricate items in the catalogue, such as the ornate gingerbread houses, appeal to the extravagant collector at a price of several hundred dollars. Smaller items, in contrast, can be purchased for under $25; caroling dogs and cats sell for about $18, and Christmas tree ornaments are even less. If you want a real collectors item, visit the Byers Choice Christmas Museum, where you can purchase a figurine available nowhere else. Collectors of Byers Choice carolers and other items will find them readily available on the internet. You can sign up for newsletters and join clubs to stay up to date and meet other collectors – or you can simply browse the items that retailers will ship directly to your door when you decide on your favorites. Displayed in the perfect spot in your home, they’ll soon have you singing your own happy carol. |
